Position Overview:
We invite you to join our growing team as we work together to build a state-of-the-art automated test harness to verify interoperability between our industry leading smart meter products and our cloud-based network management software.
As a senior member of an international team comprised of automation engineers and product experts, you will be responsible for designing, creating, executing, and maintaining a suite of automated test cases written in Ruby, Python, and PowerShell.
As a senior engineer, you will also provide technical guidance to junior engineers, host code reviews, recommend new tools and procedures, and provide stakeholders with reliable estimates for time and cost.
To be successful in this role, you should be a strong, self-directed learner with excellent debug/diagnostic skills, and a firm grasp of automation best practices. Excellent English verbal and written skills are a must.
Education
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
Duties and Responsibilities
Design, estimate, and execute automated tests to verify end-to-end system requirements in Aclara software and hardware products.
Automate manual test cases using a framework primarily comprised of Ruby, and Cucumber, with some C#, Python and PowerShell.
Work with Firmware, Software, and System test engineers to design new test cases and ready existing test cases for automation.
Assist with the design, debug, and configuration of combined hardware/software Microsoft Windows Server test environments.
Perform code reviews and provide technical assistance to junior engineers.
Author customer-facing test reports and related documentation.
Provide reliable cost and time estimates to product owners and senior management.
Generate and maintain metrics to measure the effectiveness of the test process.
Help define and improve our automation processes, tools, and standards.
Skills and Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related discipline.
5 years total software development experience with one or more of the following:
Ruby,
Python
Proficient with PowerShell
Proficient with Source Control Management software such as Git
Solid understanding of software development best practices
Proficiency with Windows operating system administration tasks
Excellent debug/diagnostic skills
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communications skills.
