Requirements for the manual Test Analyst:
Must be an experienced analyst
Must have experience in testing at all phases of the SDLC
Must have worked on agile projects with an understanding of testing methodologies and processes
Must have an awareness and understanding of test automation and where it fits (Not expected to build or execute any auto test but an interest or desire to would be a big plus)
Must be a strong communicator (written and oral) who is organised and willing to push back when needed
Must have experience in creating testing related documentation such as test scripts, regression packs and bugs
Must have experience is testing APIs
A good working knowledge of SQL
Must be quality focused with an interest in the underlying technology they are testing
Must be able to work as the sole test analyst on the team with the ability to manage stakeholders and work with the wider sprint team
Must be aware of non-functional testing and have experience in the types of testing that fall under this e.g. performance, accessibility, cross-browser
Others Desirable Requirement:
Ability to handle pressure when required
Ability to suggest improvements to a User Story and communicate these to required stakeholder (Business Analyst)
Well versed with agile development methodology.
Is a good team player.
Escalate issues which cause development of User Story/FRS to fall outside of agreed timescale and contribute to solution to issues.
ISTQB qualification or similar is desirable.
