The Senior Software Test Automation Engineer is responsible for in-depth and traceable automated test design, creation of automated test scripts, test execution, analysing test results and maintaining a defect register. As part of a cross-functional software delivery team, this role works closely other Software Engineers, Business Analysts and Product owners, mission leads and domain leads in digital area to achieve quality outcomes and ultimately contribute to Telstra’s vision and strategy. A strong background in structured testing and test automation is required for this role, as is a passion for quality and a continuous improvement mindset.
Key accountabilities
Design, develop, execute and maintain automation scripts enabling and advocating an automation first approach
Provide senior level guidance and lead the execution of test and quality assurance on enterprise projects for various missions
Research, investigate, socialise and implement emerging technologies via internal innovation of our automation, quality engineering, performance and Devops communities
Mentor junior team members, providing support & reviewing code promoting a CI/CD culture
Stay Updated with the Testing Trends
Achieve a well-defined, functioning, and repeatable set of key business, program management and technology processes to ensure consistent quality is maintained
Testing mobile devices to ensure their configuration, operation, and capabilities work efficiently.
Develop automated test scripts and frameworks for improved mobile app performance
Partner with Chapter Leads on monitoring performance of engineers in the team to identify opportunities for mentoring and skill development.
Your skills & experience
Solid experience working in an Operational and/or Engineering role and have expertise with a variety of deployment, automation, and configuration management tools.
Proven scripting or programming experience that conforms to good software engineering design principles and practices (including version management), Experience with Java/ Python, HTML, Appium, Selenium, QTP, TestPartner, SilkTest, GIT, Bamboo, XML and JSON feeds
Practical experience with Continuous Integration and Delivery pipelines. Enhancing and improving CI/CD capabilities to reduce cycle time while retaining quality
Experience in delivering projects as part of an agile team.
Mobile, Web and Service Automation
Experience in building an automation framework or contributing to existing frameworks
Strong programming background
Web and Mobile front end testing experience
Hands on experience of using market leading test automation tools and frameworks
