Weir is looking for an experienced and highly skilled Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Platform QA Lead to join our team. As the QA Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our IIoT platform (Cloud + Edge components) through comprehensive testing and quality assurance processes. This role requires a deep understanding of IIoT technologies and applications, as well as expertise in testing methodologies and tools.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including IIoT Architect, Edge Architect, Platform/Cloud Engineering, Platform/Cloud Operations, Software engineers and Product management, to understand requirements, specifications, and design documentation.
You will also work with many leading software and hardware vendors of Weir to execute your QA plan and ensure the quality/reliability of the Platform.
What you will Be Doing:
QA Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive QA strategies, plans, and test cases for our IIoT platform, ensuring the highest level of test coverage.
Quality, Reliability, Stability : Ownership of end to end quality, reliability and stability of the platform (Cloud and Edge systems). Build and execute QA and Test plans to ensure all the 3 along with Platform engineering lead. This includes Functional, Regression, Load, Stress, Performance testing.
QA Leadership: Lead a team of QA engineers (External and not on roll) in executing test plans, identifying functional and usability issues, and tracking defects to resolution.
Test execution: Perform thorough testing of new features and enhancements, including functional, regression, performance, and security testing.
Compliance: Ownership of compliance of the IIoT Platform (Joint ownership with Head of IIoT Architecture). Ensure Platform is compliant with the necessary standards by working with 3rd party vendors and external auditors.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and product management, to understand requirements, specifications, and design documentation.
Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement of the QA process, methodologies, and tools by staying up-to-date with emerging trends and best practices in the IIoT industry.
RCA: Conduct root cause analysis and provide recommendations for resolving quality issues, ensuring a robust and reliable IIoT platform.
3rd party Collaboration: Coordinate with third-party vendors and partners to plan, execute various QA and Testing programs for Platform. Work with vendors to test integration points and ensure seamless interoperability with external systems.
Test Automation: Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks to streamline the testing process and improve efficiency.
Industry outside in view: Stay updated with the latest industry standards, Compliance needs and Regulations related to IIoT (Cloud and Edge), ensuring compliance in all aspects of the QA process.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus
Basic Azure Cloud certifications will be a good plus (Azure AZ – 900 or similar)
Certification in Quality Assurance (such as ISTQB or similar) is preferred but not required.
Experience
Working knowledge of testing Platforms built on Azure Cloud or AWS or GCP.
Overall 6 to 10 years work experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance, with at least 2 years of experience in testing IIoT platforms or related technologies.
Strong knowledge of IIoT architectures, protocols, and platforms, such as MQTT, OPC UA, Edge computing, and cloud-based systems.
Proven experience in leading teams, managing projects, and delivering high-quality results within tight schedules.
Proficiency in testing methodologies, including Functional, Regression, Load, Stress, Performance, and Security testing.
Experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail), bug tracking systems, and test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium).
Familiarity with programming languages and scripting tools, such as Python, Java, or JavaScript, for test automation and validation.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and provide innovative solutions.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
