The QA lead position is responsible for managing the overall test strategies of software as part of a quality team. This role is responsible for taking up leads for the product quality reviews of various applications and includes creating test plans and strategize in partnership with developers, operations engineers and project managers to check conformance to the system requirements. Environment setup for Test automation and manual testing to be defined as part of this role. The person is to assist in defining QA coding standards and frameworks, and for identifying emerging technologies and evaluating their applicability to client’s business goals.
Primary responsibilities
Reviews client requirement and provides feedback
Responsible for creating test plans and strategy
Reviews and re-evaluates the test strategy to adjust for new information, changing risks, shifting priorities, and schedules
Reviews the testing of software features
Performs quality review of various applications
Review project schedules and prioritizes the work and accesses the risks and team strengths and assignment of resources across projects
Controls implementation and execution of functional, regression, and acceptance tests
Assists in test environment setup, test automation, and exploratory testing
Reviews the creation and maintenance of test data and test documentation
Provides suitable solutions for issues/errors based on the understanding of the system and client business processes
Leads/mentors Test Engineers and shares knowledge to make sure QA staff meets technical qualifications required for their positions
Works with clients in evaluating and implementing new technologies and offer strategies for new opportunities
Assists in formulating QA standards and best practices, organizational policies and processes and strategic plans
Assists management in setting the direction for quality assurance within the organization
Assists in recruiting new staff, conducting interviews and evaluate potential candidates
Requirements
BE / B-Tech degree and 6+ years of work experience, or ME / MS degree and 4+ years of work experience, in Computer Science / Information Technology
Skills
Expertise in developing database, functional and regression test suites along with test planning and execution
Create clear, concise, detail-oriented test plans and cases.
Ability to understand and create test plans from specifications or verbal communications.
Experience in an automated testing application such as Selenium, Cucumber, TestComplete/ Cross Browser Testing
Demonstrated experience testing large web applications
Liaison with development, project management, and customer support
Have attention to detail and take ownership of work
Experience working in an Agile environment such as Jira/ X-Ray
Understanding of software development lifecycle and best practices
Ability to communicate technical aspects to people with non-IT background
Ability to act as a liaison between QA and development teams
Ability to ensure that solutions developed by technical teams fit the business needs
Ability to offer alternative approaches to achieve the client goals
