As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) at Avalara, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our tax compliance software solutions. You will collaborate with development teams to design, implement, and execute automated test scripts, perform manual testing when necessary, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our testing processes.
Develop and maintain automated test scripts using industry-standard tools and frameworks.
Collaborate with software developers and quality assurance engineers to identify test requirements and design test cases.
Execute test cases manually and through automation, ensuring thorough coverage of functional and non-functional requirements.
Analyze test results, identify defects, and work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues in a timely manner.
Participate in Agile development practices, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings.
Contribute to the improvement of testing processes, tools, and techniques to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in software testing and quality assurance.
What You'll Need to be Successful
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
5+ years of experience in software testing, with a focus on test automation and quality assurance
Strong programming skills in languages like Java, C#, Python, or similar languages used for test automation
Experience with automated testing frameworks like Selenium, Appium, or JUnit.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
Knowledge of software testing principles, techniques, and best practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with a focus on teamwork and continuous learning.
