Position Overview:
The Database Testing Specialist is responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and performance of the organization's database systems. This role involves designing and executing comprehensive testing strategies to identify and rectify any potential issues in the database infrastructure. The Database Testing Specialist collaborates with software developers, quality assurance teams, and database administrators to ensure seamless integration and data integrity throughout the software development life cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
SQL Query Testing: Write and execute complex SQL queries to validate data extraction, manipulation, and reporting requirements. Identify and fix any data retrieval issues in collaboration with the development team.
Database Schema Testing: Validate the integrity and correctness of database schema designs, data mappings, and relationships between entities. Verify that tables, indexes, constraints, and views are defined correctly and meet the expected standards.
Data Validation: Perform data validation and verification to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data in the database. Validate data transformations, data migrations, and data integration processes to ensure data quality, mistakes must be removed from the database.
Performance Testing: Conduct performance testing to assess database performance and identify bottlenecks. Optimize database queries and configurations to improve overall system performance.
Assuring that network difficulties do not compromise data integrity, resulting in data loss or corruption.
Data Security and Compliance: Verify the implementation of data security measures and compliance with relevant data protection regulations. Ensure that access controls, encryption, and data masking are properly configured and maintained.
Defect Reporting and Tracking: Document defects and issues found during testing, and track them through to resolution. Collaborate with developers to investigate root causes and verify fixes.
Documentation: Create comprehensive test documentation, including test plans, test cases, test reports, and test summaries. Maintain accurate records of testing activities and results.
Test Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand database requirements, data models, and application functionality. Develop test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on the specifications and business requirements.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in Database testing with a strong focus on relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
Minimum of 7+ years of testing experience in Bulk data processing, Integrations, and data migration projects.
Strong Knowledge of SQL data query languages is highly desirable for data validation and manipulation.
Strong ability in developing advanced SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and/or calculate information to fulfil data and reporting requirements including the tables and columns from which data is extracted.
Experience in creating Test environment for Staging area, loading the staging area with data from multiple sources/applications.
Experience in extracting test data from tables and loading of data into SQL tables.
Experience in data transformation and loading data into target database.
Ability to validate data, constraints, record counts, and source to target, row counts, random sampling, and error processing.
Tested several integrated applications for security, data protection and data corruption during data transfer/migration.
Analysed data and applied relevant transformations and verified that the source data types are correct.
Responsible for different data mapping activities from source systems to any Relational Database Management System.
performed periodic checks to run cross check against QA/SIT/PROD environments to ensure it is up and running.
Worked with DQ architecture team in Testing complex delta processing loads.
Involved in creating source target mappings based on the technical design requirements.
Created tested reports using Business objects functionalities like Queries, Slice and Dice, Drill down, Cross tab, Master detail and formulate etc.
Handle the tasks of writing database code, monitoring database performance and identify bottlenecks. Optimize database queries and configurations to improve overall system performance.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
