Job Description

Responsible for leading engineering of software quality for an enterprise level product development in a highly regulated environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as a Team lead for a software quality engineer team comprising automation engineers and manual testers contributing to software quality in the context of a fast paced, Agile development process.

Oversees completion of tasks of the Quality Engineering team on time and within budget. Resolves prioritization and assignment issues and provides performance mentorship to team members.

Assists in helping set the direction, process, and general test methodology for parallel development of the software and automated test suite.

Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors moderately complex test automation programs/scripts. Applies agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result. Collaborates in reviews of work with others as appropriate.

Work with the software engineering team to resolve issues arising in the test process.

Assists in developing and maintaining innovative, repeatable test plans based on functional requirements, use cases, user interface designs, system design documents and domain knowledge.

Responsible for the training and development of all new staff members regarding departmental resources and procedures.

Manages individuals and groups. Allocates responsibilities and/or packages of work, including supervisory responsibilities. Delegates responsibilities as appropriate. Sets performance targets, and monitors progress against agreed quality and performance criteria. Provides effective feedback, throughout the performance management cycle, to ensure optimum performance. Proactively works to ensure effective working relationships within the team and with those whom the team interacts with. Provides support and guidance as required, in line with individuals’ abilities. Advises individuals on career paths, and encourages pro-active development of skills and capabilities and provides mentoring to support professional development.

Conducts formal reviews of activities, processes, products or services. Collects, collates and examines records as part of specified testing strategies for evidence of compliance with management directives, or the identification of abnormal occurrences.

Conducts peer reviews of test cases, review work of less experienced team members and guide and train them on tools and processes.

Provides advice and guidance to support adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards. Adapt processes in line with agreed standards and evaluation of methods and tools. Reviews and improves usage and application of methods and tools.

Performs and/or supports audits (internal, external, and by regulatory agencies). Provide Team Leadership or Technical Leadership.

Strong analytics and problem-solving capabilities and ability to adjust to changing priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS NEEDED:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.

Experience:

Minimum of 7 year of experience in the field of software quality engineering. Experience of leading and mentoring teams of test engineers is preferable. 

Experience in an Agile development environment using methodologies like SCRUM, SAFe or equivalent.

Good understanding of DevOps practice and Cloud based software solutions.

Experienced in working directly with Quality Engineering management, Software Development management and Product Management.

Knowledge in the software development lifecycle, practices and scripting languages such as Javascript, Ruby, Python, etc., as well as SQL.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively in English.

Experienced in software testing techniques (Functional, Integration, System, Regression).

Experienced with test management tools for requirement, test case and defect tracking. Specific experience with Polarion is a plus.

Experienced with software test automation and best practices. Experience with Katalon is a plus.
